This Privacy Policy explains how SCALED handles information when you
use the Android app (package name com.scaled.app).
Who we are
SCALED is published by Erobat Labs.
SCALED helps you put a short challenge between you and selected distracting apps. When a protected app opens, SCALED can show a challenge. Completing the challenge can grant temporary access.
Local-first design
SCALED is designed to keep most product information on your device, including your protected-app choices, preferences, and progress.
That does not mean that no information ever leaves your device. SCALED uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google / Firebase). Those services may process usage and diagnostic information when a network connection is available.
SCALED does not create a SCALED user account and does not provide SCALED cloud sync or cloud backup of your product data.
Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use SCALED, the app may store locally:
- The apps you choose to protect (catalog identifiers and related package names)
- Your unlock-duration preference
- Your preferred challenge type
- Onboarding and setup state
- Accessibility disclosure consent (a yes/no record that you continued past the in-app disclosure)
- Challenge and progression information, such as recovered time, XP, streaks, daily energy, daily missions, and badge unlock state
- Reward / unlock history used by the app (for example, temporary unlock records and related reward entries)
- Temporary unlock session details (which protected apps are unlocked and until when)
Android Auto Backup / automatic transfer of this SCALED app data is disabled in the current app configuration.
Permissions
Accessibility access
SCALED uses Android Accessibility access only to detect which app is in the foreground (the app’s package name) so it can show a challenge when a protected app opens.
SCALED does not:
- retrieve accessibility window content
- read your messages
- read your passwords
- read typed text
- read or scrape on-screen content
Before SCALED opens the system Accessibility settings, it shows an in-app explanation and asks you to continue.
Display over other apps
SCALED uses “Display over other apps” so it can show the blocking challenge over a protected app when that app opens.
Usage Access
SCALED uses Usage Access as a backup way to recognize the foreground app. Accessibility is the primary signal. Usage Access helps with reliability in situations such as unlock expiry or when the overlay needs a package confirmation.
SCALED does not use Usage Access to build a separate “usage insights” product in the current app.
Challenges and sensors
SCALED currently offers challenge types such as brain (math), fitness (squats), and memory challenges.
Answers you type during a challenge are used to complete the challenge on your device. They are not sent as answer content in SCALED’s analytics events.
The squat / fitness challenge currently works on an honor-system confirmation. SCALED does not currently use camera, microphone, body sensors, activity-recognition permission, or motion tracking for squat counting.
Information that may leave your device
Firebase Analytics
SCALED uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and whether core features work (for example, onboarding readiness, blocking, challenges, unlocks, and recovered-time updates).
Depending on the event, analytics may include information such as:
- challenge type and related product metrics (for example XP gained, streak days, unlock minutes, recovered-time values)
- permission / readiness signals (for example whether Accessibility, overlay, or Usage Access appear enabled when a readiness event is logged)
- protected-app identifiers and, in some cases, package names associated with blocked-app detection or unlock activity
Firebase Analytics may also process standard technical or diagnostic signals needed for the service to operate (for example app/instance identifiers used by Google / Firebase). Exact fields collected automatically by Google’s SDK are governed by Google’s documentation and policies.
Firebase Crashlytics
In release builds, SCALED uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and error reports so we can diagnose stability problems. This may include diagnostic information such as stack traces and related technical details about the crash or error.
Crash reporting is configured to be enabled in release builds and disabled in debug builds.
Service provider
Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics are provided by Google / Firebase. Information processed by those services is handled under Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies for Firebase / Google services.
Advertising
SCALED does not display advertising.
SCALED does not use the Advertising ID for advertising or advertising tracking.
The current app configuration disables Firebase Analytics Advertising ID collection and removes Advertising ID / related AdServices permissions from the app’s merged permission set when that configuration is applied.
Accounts and cloud sync
SCALED does not require you to create an account.
SCALED does not currently offer login / authentication, a SCALED cloud account, or SCALED cloud sync of protected apps, progress, or preferences.
Children
SCALED is not specifically designed or directed to children.

Deleting or resetting local data
You can:
- change protected apps and preferences in the app
- use Delete local data in the app (You → Privacy & Data)
- uninstall SCALED, which removes the app’s local data from the device under normal Android behavior
Delete local data removes SCALED product information stored on the device, such as protected-app selections, preferences, progression / reward history, and related local setup state. It does not revoke Android system permissions you already granted (Accessibility, Display over other apps, or Usage Access). Those remain under your control in Android Settings.
Deleting local data on your device does not automatically delete information already processed and retained by Firebase Analytics or Firebase Crashlytics. Because SCALED has no user account, there is no in-app “delete my cloud analytics profile” control. Retention of Firebase data follows Google / Firebase practices. Uninstalling the app also does not guarantee deletion of historical analytics or crash records already received by those services.
Security
We take reasonable steps appropriate to a local-first mobile app, including keeping most product state on the device, limiting Accessibility use to foreground package detection without retrieving window content, disabling Android Auto Backup of SCALED app data in the current configuration, and using Google / Firebase services over their standard networked channels when analytics or crash reporting occur.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We do not claim that your information can never be accessed in unauthorized ways.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when SCALED’s practices change or when we need to clarify how information is handled. When we update it, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Please review the revised policy when updates are published.
